Trailomen

Terms of Use

Effective date: August 4, 2026

Estimates, not guarantees

Trailomen provides planning estimates derived from published formulas. Real-world conditions — weather, terrain, fitness, group dynamics — vary widely and can differ materially from any estimate. The tools are an aid to preparation, not a substitute for experience, local knowledge, current forecasts, or conservative judgment in the field.

Assumption of risk

Hiking, backpacking, and mountain travel carry inherent risks including serious injury and death. By using this site you acknowledge that all decisions made before or during a trip — including whether to start, continue, or turn around — are yours alone.

No warranty & limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trailomen and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or its results.

Acceptable use

You may use the calculators freely for personal and commercial trip planning, including sharing results. You may not scrape the site at volume, misrepresent its output as your own product, or use it in any way that violates applicable law.

Intellectual property

Site content, design, and code are © Trailomen. The underlying published formulas (Naismith, Pandolf, the NWS wind-chill standard, and others) belong to science — our implementation and presentation belong to us.

Changes

We may update these terms; the effective date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
